This is a 19th century lifestyle blog: an examination of social norms, rituals, celebrations, entertainment, and all the little details that comprise daily life, now and then.

My name is Jen and I am a perpetual student, though I finished my formal education in May 2012 when I graduated with a Master of Arts in English literature, specializing in early American literature and theater. I took a seminar at the American Antiquarian Society in 2008 and utilized their wonderful library for a significant portion of my graduate thesis research. When I’m not digging through the archives and reading 19th century novels, I like to read literature from other centuries, paint, draw, run, practice yoga, rock climb, and whenever I can, travel.
